Experts - Will new H1 extension approval invalidate old H1 approval papers?

Hi All.

Here is my situation:
Visa & I94 in Passport expired.
Have renewal documents that is valid upto 5/15/05.

Have an appt @ Madras consulate on March 1.

My employer has agreed to file for 7th yr extension on 1/31/05(after completing 365 days) by premium processing.

Old Doc -> I797 with validity upto 5/15/2005
New Doc -> I797 that extends H1 into the 7th year.

Assuming that the extension comes thru:
1)Will the new docs override the old docs?
2)Will the LIN on the new docs be different from the old doc?
3)Can I still take the new docs to the consulate for visa interview even though the appt was made with the LIN of the old doc?
