Does anybody have any experience of contacting consulate asking for specific interview date [ or period ] which is before 60 days average time they take after pk-3 reaches them?

What was their response?

Our consulate is Mumbai and every week since NVC sent our case to the consulate (1/5/05), I have been sending them an email to inquire about our case. I have recd no response to any of them yet.

good luck to you.

GreenMD,

here u go...

I was informed that my case number, BMBxxx, was forwarded to the Mumbai US Consulate on January 4th, 2005 by the National Visa Center (NVC). Could you kindly confirm the receipt of the same? and when should I expect my Packet IV and/or my potential interview date?

good luck

My experience with other consulates is that, if a specific question pertaining to the case is asked , they normally respond within a day or two. But if generic status check and common information (available elsewhere) is queried, Consulates tend to ignore.. Then again, I have no expereince with BMB.

With regard to to your original question, the Consulates need a minimum time to process a case. In my understanding, by the end of month they send out the 'Report 20' to DOS; therfore depending on the work load your case need to be in that report for a Visa number to be issued for the month following the next. They get the Visa numbers around the first week of next month and schedule appointments by the second week.

Once a Visa number(s) is obtained for the case, the consulate has the discretion of moving the interview dates within the month (for which Visa number is issued). Hence moving the dates is highly specific to the case timelines.

There is no harm in requestig BMB, if you you think the timelines are favorable.

I am agree with vu2vut. My case forward to consulate on the first week of January and last 2 weeks ago I sent an e-mail to ask my interview date, but no reply. Then I sent again in this week I got reply that they can not tell me now. They already requested a Visa number form NVC and as soon as they receive they will schedule appment. and send the appointment letter to petitioner in USA.
I think we don't e-mail them until 6-7 weeks after case sent to consulate.
I hope this would helpful for you.
Good luck
