Did anyone ever had their case transferred to the Des Moines office ? Of anyone from Des Moines had their case transferred from NSC to some other local office ?

Also any experiance with getting advance parole directly from Des Moines ? I don't think there are too many people from Iowa visiting this forum.

I got the interm EAD from Des Moines office. It was crowded even at 8AM...So try to get there by 7AM so that you'll see the officer soon. There are lot of mexicans coming for some immigration work. So try to be early...

My wife recently got an I Ead in Des Moines. Get there early and get a number.

It was a very fast process and the people were courteous. Not sure if they are very competent though.

i am from iowa

the des moines local office is not too bad, as local BCIS offices go. it is rather small, and there are the aforementioned crowds. the officers are courteous. i had gone there for my special registration (and by way things are progressing at NSC, i'll probably have to go again :( ), and, all in all, it was not a bad experience. the officer took pains to reassure me that there was nothing to worry about, and even joked that if my case got transfered to des moines, he might be the one interviewing me again.

i don't think you need to be apprehensive about des moines.

I am From Iowa too

Yes the Des Moines Office is very crowded due to the Mexican population, but the people are nice and if you get in Early there should not be any problem, as there are 2 offices in the same area the place looks crowded, but some people are for fingerprints and they don't count for any interview or EAD stuff

Hope this helps

thanks

Thanks everyone for the response !!!

I see that some of you applied for EAD at Des Moines. With a 485 pending, can i just opt to get my EAD in Des Moines or do I have to go through NSC ? Do we go to the Des Moines office just for interim EAD. I am on the 2nd EAD and in a couple of months the legal department will get started on applying for the third one. Just want to see if we can skip NSC. SO sick and tired of renewing our drivers license every 8-9 months. IA will issue it only for the period of EAD.

lifeonhold,

I got my emergency advance parole from des moines the next day we applied. They are nice people. You mentioned about renewing your driver licence, why is driver licence is required for EAD?

Are you from west des moines?

no....drivers license is not required for EAD....but we get a dirvers license on valid for the period of the EAD..........so drivers license expires when ead expires so we have to keep renewing it.........

yes...i am from west des moines........i think u r from clive

Hi Raja234,

You have mentioned that you had applied for emergency parole.I am actually going to do that this month.Could you please fill in me with details like how did you do that? What all documents did you submit etc? I am planning to apply at Chicago.Do you know whether there will be any additional requirements at chicago local office?

Thanks for your help in advance!

We took a fax letter that we received from India which explains that we all (names specified) needed to be in India due to the emergency (specified). The letter was from the Hospital.

LifeonHold,

call me at 213 5019 if possible.

I really can't tell you what extra Chicago local office may require you to bring. You might need the regular things like the I-485 receipt, passport, moneyorder for the fee, 3 photos (we did not know that 3 are required we took only 2) and filled in application.

Lifeonhold- If you have an approved I-140 you dont have to worry about the drivers licence period.

When I renewed my DL, I showed them the original I-140, they had to check with someone else but they renewed mine for 5 years.
