Expedite Case

I was reading on the USCIS site that it is possible to expedite one's case if he/she is incurring extensive financial losses due to the long processing time. My boss is running out of grant money, and I want to apply for certain federal funded grants for my research, but I am unable since I am not a U.S. citizen or green card holder. Also, my son is in college and he can't apply for government based aid since he is also not a citizen or green card holder. Is this enough to request expedite processing on my I-485? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
