Exit interview (NSEERS) when leaving US for CP interview

For those people who went through an exit interview with an INS officer when departing the U.S. for their CP interview:

1. Where did you interview (i.e. port of exit)?

2. Was the interview very detailed?

3. Did the officer ask you why you were leaving U.S. and when/if you would be returning?

4. Did you freely discuss that you were leaving to appear for a green card interview in your home country?

5. Any other tips/advice.

Thanks for your help!

I have not heard of INS officers conducting exit interviews for anyone. Atleast I do not have personal experience in my 3 trips
to India.

The Airline agent at the counter collects the I-94 stubs and it is
their responsibility to hand them over to INS.

Raju: This phenomenon is actually specific to those male individuals who are nationals of countries placed on the "special registration" list - also known as NSEERS.

We are required to appear before an INS officer before we depart the country - or risk deportation when we seek to re-enter!

Zaye,

1.The interview is at the port of exit. if you are in OKC, and your flight is OKC - DAL - LON - KHI, then the exist interview will be done in DAL. Most of the ticket agents are not aware of it, and will said no need for exit interview. But I will strongly advise you to have it done. The interview is done the day of your departure from US.

2. Usually not. The only question they asked was are you leaving today, and flight #, and carrier.

3. They are not interested in why you are leaving US.

4. I did not tell them that I am going for green card interview.

5. Make sure you get your Exit interview done. And have your passport stamped ( Exit Stamp ). They donot ask for any information. Just your passport and some time ticket.

Thank you very much txcp - I really appreciate the input :)

I do not have a direct answer for your question but here is what i would recommend:

1. I ran a basic search for "NSEERS" and for "Exit Interview" and the search pulled up a number of links related to NSEERS and Exit Interviews from the recent past. I think if you do the same and target a specific audience you will definitely get a response.

2. Also another way i would approach would be to check cptracker.com and sort the listing by consulates and identify email id's of folks of the country's that require NSEERS/ Exit Interview before departing from usa. And then send an email to those folks!
