Hi All,
I am planning to go to Chennai & get my h1b visa stamped (this is the 2nd time) sometime in March 06.
Is it true that the expiry date of the passport must be atleast 6 months after the expiry date on my I797 petition?
My expiry date on the new I797 is 02/12/2008 and my passport expiry date is 02/22/2008. Should I get my passport renewed now, because I am plannng to go for stamping mar 06.
The US consulate website states:
"An individual passport valid for travel to the U.S. If your passport will expire within six months, we strongly recommend you extend the validity prior to your interview date."
So what does expire within six months mean? Is it with reference to my interview date or expiry on my I797?
