hi all,

need some help/guidance. my sister is on green card for 1 year now and just got a job to work for the usaid overseas. she is very worried as one of the requirements for applying for the citizenship is being physically present in the us for 5 years with no trips of 6 months or more. to comply with this physcial presence rule, she will need to reenter every 6 months, which she won't be able to do.

does anyone know if there is some kind of exception or waiver that applies to green card holders working overseas for a us company? we have been doing some research, but all we can find now are exceptions that only apply to those going abroad for military reasons or maried to citezen.

thanks in advance!!

The N-470 may be applicable, but it really depends whether the aid organization can classify the work as an overseas missionary or a as a recognized US corporation.
