Evidence of Selective Service registration

In the IL, among the documents I was asked to bring is evidence of registration with the selective services.

I never thought that USCIS would ask me about it since I entered this country with a non-immigrant visa and maintained that status for more than 10 years! Doesn't USCIS have all the my records that prove that I was a non-immmigrant when I was younger than 26 years.

Has anyone here had a similar situation?

I know the safe measure is to get the evidence from SSS but it won't be ready for the interview and according to the SSS' web site it is taking now up to 90 days for it to be ready.

Is it ok to instead take another evidence which proves that I was a non-immigrant exempting me from SS registration.

I guess the IO can verify the info with a click of a button on his/her computer! Don't you think so?

Thanks

It's just standard text. Every male applicant (and even some females, believe it or not) has the same text in his IL.

If you can demonstrate to the IO that you maintained a legal non-immigrant status until you turned 26, it'll prove that you weren't required to register.

You got your GC at 26 or older, so presumably you must be at least 31 by now, which means the Selective Service registration is largely irrelevant to your naturalization. Don't worry about, it's unlikely they will ask about it at your age.

Thanks Vorpal and Jackolantern!

I knew that I would not need it and I also suspected that the IL is pretty much generic, but I just wanted to clear it off my mind! Thanks a bunch for helping me in this respect!
