Folks,
After seven months of nerve wrecking patience, the AVM stated that my H1 extension was approved.
Here are my details.
Applied for H1 and H4 at VSC as per AC 21 law on December 27, 2000.
RD - December 27, 2000
ND - Jan 03, 2001
AD as per AVM - July 3, 2001.
no RFE.
sixth year H1 expired on Jan 29th, 2001
Called IIO 3 times during the month of March. Eventually found out that they were holding the cases pending
guidelines from the INS headquaters.
Was in the 240 day grace period which would have ended around Sept 29, 2001. Since the GC dates are
current, had applied for I-485 a couple of days back. I was hoping to receive the EAD before the 240 days
expired and all the postings of the mail room delays at VSC was making me extremely nervous.
Anyway I had applied for a year extension on the H1-B, so I have to see how much the service center has given.
This discussion board has been of immense help and I thank all the people who have posted their experiences,
advice, reviews and opinions and of course Rajiv Khanna for providing this service.
I wish all of you\'ll good luck and hope that your application approvals also come soon.
Many thanks to prabha, gsingh4, desichet and other folks.
Chow, hope to see you\'ll in the I-485 discussion board
