Error On Approval Notice

Hi:

I got the approval notice in the mail today. Not surprisingly,
They put my I-485 notice date as my receipt date. My
I-485 receipt date should be 10/9/2001. They put 11/24/2001
instead.

Now I want to know shall I get this corrected? Obviously this
has affected my processing time, because when I called
the INS last year, they told me my receipt date was 11/24/2001
so I should wait more time. I told them my receipt date was
10/9/2001. But they insisted on the wrong date. I didn't want
to offend them so I didn't insist.

Anyone can tell me if asking them to correct this mistake will
cause any delay in my getting my real GC.

of course don't do that, clueless, now you've already get approved. what are you afraid of. Just wait. It doesn't matter
you're Nov or Oct, because Apr cases get approved too.
I think you'll get green card in a month.

Now tell me how many days after you talked to Kerry's office
you got 2nd FP notice

To dengdeng, looks like you also haven't got your 2nd FP buddy, could you please post your details. I just don't want to start a new thread

I also got my courtesy approval notice today. I think the receipt date is what we call Notice Date: It is the date when they put the information in the computer. I have the same also. I hope that helps.
Interestingly, in that case is this the date on which the approvals are based.

dengdeng and all, I also have not got 2nd FP till date :(

Is there anything which can be done ?

Whom to call for this ?

Please help

Thanks

gcoptimistic looks like your case is similar to mine what is your RD and ND, mine are 1/22/2002 and 2/11/2002. FP1 BCIS recvd 4/10/2002.

dengdeng and all:

Thanks for the advice!

I stopped by Senator Kerry's office in late May. They got back
to me in a matter of days, May 27, 2003.

I received my 2nd FP notice end of May. The scheduled date
was June 19. I walked in on June 4, and the results were
accepted on June 6. My guess is that Kerry's office helped me
a lot.

They called the BCIS and learned that I hadn't passed the
security clearance. So the BCIS sent me the 2nd Fp notice.

I remember vaguely someone posted a message on this
forum - He called the BCIS to request a 2nd FP and he
got the 2nd FP notice in about 2 weeks. Why don't you do
a search on this forum? If that's true, why don't you call
the BCIS to request them to send you a 2nd FP notice
so that there will be progress with your case?

Hi Clueless123

I just wonder how to take the 2nd FP before the scheduled date. Did the local office ask why you take it in advance?

Where did you take the FP?

To xl088

Hi xl088:

I just walked in the FP office to make sure I'll know what
documents to bring to do a FP on the appointed date.
Then they said I could do my FP right away. It doesn't matter
if you don't do it at the scheduled time. A lot of people do that
and there is no problem. In my case, the FP office offered to
do it for my in advance.

Clueless, there's no way to contact BCIS to get 2nd FP. only way is contact congressman, let them contact VSC.'

Now it appears to me that you never failed secuirty check, but just FP expired(FP is part of clearance). That's why you get 2nd FP notice. That's same thing I'm doing now. Hopefully, I will get 2nd FP notice soon. Then I'll ask congressman's office to contact VSC again for expedite.

I think congressman/senator really helped your case. Sai-2367 got approved 4 days after contacting congressman, even with an expired FP.

Clueless,
I had the exact same thing happen to me also, and thats the reason that I got 2 approval notices, since the second approval notice had the right PDs and ADs...

So dont worry..just go and get your passport stamped and enjoy the freedom !

All the best !

To dengdeng

Hi dengdeng:

If you'll get your 2nd FP soon, your wait won't be for long!
Just take one step at a time, and you're going to get there
soon enough.

Today I spent almost 8 hours in the BCIS office in the JFK
building and got my passport stamped. After this painful
and desparate long delay, I've finally got my freedom.

FYI, the short Spanish-looking BCIS officer with dark hair
and brown skin I talked to a while ago about my case is at
window #3, the 3rd window from the right side.
(Not window #10). You can take a day off work and prepare
a fax ahead of time and ask him to fax it for you to the VSC.

If your reason for the visit is for information about your I-485,
they'll assign you to either window #10 (a woman) or window
#3. I don't know about #10. But I talked to #3, and he was
patient.
