Hi i arrived in the country on immigration a month ago ,I have just received my permanent resident card .My name is misspelled on it (typo error), I have filled I-90 with supporting documents and submitted for the amendment. I need to travel out of the country for a substantial period. Would you please tell me
i) how long will it take to get back my amended GC?
ii) Can i leave the county before receiving the amended G.C?
iii) Would it be a problem to enter back in the country ( I have a I-511 stamped in the passport valid till next year)?

You can reenter with the I-551 stamp, don't worry about that. Just make sure to return before it expires.

The new GC should be delivered in 2-6 months.

However, did you pay a fee for the I-90? If the error was your fault, because you misspelled the name on the application, they'll expect you to pay the fee.

Thank you Jackolantern for your reply , i did not send the fees yet as i have all the details correct in my application, Is'nt it if it is their error i do not pay? I also wanted to find out if i need to get my biomatrics done again? If so do they give enought notice period to appear for the same?

We haven't received 10 year green card for my wife & we need to file I 90 also. Do we need to pay fee again? We already paid last year when we filed I 751.

Thanks!

Rentring after 6 months

Hi ,

I have entered US on Immigrant visa and received GC in Aug'2013. Then I travelled back to UK. Now we have decided to move their and want to re-enter in April. The length of my stay outside US will be around 9 months. Is it valid to re-enter or do I need to apply re-entry visa.

Thanks,
Shah
