Over the last 10yrs I HAD to get my work permit every year to get my driver License every year. The Ohio BMV used my work permit dates for my drivers license dates. Since getting the physical work permit card takes forever, you have to use the USCIS receipt paper to renew at the BMV. This past year though I did not renew my work permit because I thought I would be granted earlier & it’s expensive. So I would definitely get it if you need a drivers license or also good for a legal form of identification!!
