Over the last 10yrs I HAD to get my work permit every year to get my driver License every year. The Ohio BMV used my work permit dates for my drivers license dates. Since getting the physical work permit card takes forever, you have to use the USCIS receipt paper to renew at the BMV. This past year though I did not renew my work permit because I thought I would be granted earlier & it’s expensive. So I would definitely get it if you need a drivers license or also good for a legal form of identification!!

Hi my recommendation is renewed every time because you need it for everything in my case I wait more the one year to get the work permit and we just recibe the card at December 1 and my work close down in Thanksgiving was a restaurant, I work 17 years over there and the labor department ask me for the work permit for get my unemployment...imagine in my case if I don't renew the work permit I can't get the unemployment insurance...two weeks later my attorney office call me they recibe my granted letter...We have to pray and ask God to help us and not be overwhelmed by the wait that seems endless.
