Entry into US after Canada Visit

My previous H1 approval was from June 2003-June 2006.
I94 expiry date was in June 2006.

March 2006 - changed employer [ H1 transfer- validity of H1 till Feb 2009]
August 2006 - I went to Canada for H1 Visa Stamping by car.
H1 visa was stamped BUT
While coming back into USA I was not issued a new I94
-as I was travelling by land and returning within 7 days.

Now I am filing my I140 and I485. What should I mention my date of entry into USA. August 2006 or the one before that?

Has anyone been in this situation before -- please advise.

i was in same situation..... put the date you came into canada by land//even if u didnt get passport stamped.... u may have to explain if youget RFe.. but it is better to say the right thing...

----------------August 2006 and also explain on letter that on date....... you went to Canada for....... and entred US (border post name) on .... and did not got new I-94 and bofore that Canada trip you entered US (POE name) on date....(sign the lertter)
