Entering with Re-entry Permit after an year

My wife would be returning back to the US in Dec 2007 (after spending slightly about 13 months in India). She has REP till Jan 2009, we have maintained ties -- bank accounts, I have been working for US companies during this time (and I have made couple of trips). She would be returning with our 2 citizen kids and I would be going back in Nov. One of her friends was saying that her entry to US would be very difficult, even with REP, as it is over an year.

Can somebody who have entered with REP or know people who have done this, post their experiences?

We are aware that she could be questioned and may have to answer convincingly that her long visit was temporary.

It would be very difficult for my wife to move back in Nov 2007 (before 1 year), because of family reasons, but we are considering that too.

Re-entry to the US should not be difficult with the REP. The difficulty is with citizenship; the > 1 year spent abroad will very likely be considered to have broken continuous residence for citizenship purposes (which is stricter than residence for maintaining the green card), thus restarting the citizenship clock upon returning to the US full-time. That just means citizenship eligibility may be delayed by a few years.
