Hi all,
I have an H-1 B visa from company A valid till Jun x, 2006. I changed my employment in MAy 2004 to company B, who sent me a new I-797 notice of action with H-1B approval till Sep y, 2006.

I did not get a new visa stamped on the approval notice of company B.

I am visting India currently and am back due in the US in a few days.

Question: At the port of entry do i voluntarily show the new I-797 to the officer or wait until he/she asks? (My company said dont volunteer it. In the past they have asked me about it, though i was working for the same employer at that time)

Please advise.

Thank you.

You do not need to show I797 unless you are asked. Probably they ask which company you are working for, and then you may need to show it anyway.
