Entering in 7th year of a 1 year multiple entry vistor visa without ever visiting US

Hi,

Appreciate it if any of you could shed light on this. The case details are, my mother got her 10 years multiple entry visa 7 years back (pre 9-11). She never visited US since the time she got her visa. She plans to come now in 2007 on a visit with other family members.

The question is, is her visa still valid as it is a 10 years visa or is there a requirement to make the first trip within a limited timeframe for the visa to be valid for 10 years?

Also, if it is valid visa, do we still need to go to consulate to confirm/stamp, etc?

The visa is still valid. Your mother can safely use it.

Thanks Trple Citizen. There is a note on the US State department website (
http://travel.state.gov/visa/questions/questions_1253.html#6) that says the indefinte visas visas have been cancelled as of 1-apr-2004. So am a bit confused. Anyways, even the VFS guy replied saying the visa is valid but just want to make sure since I dont want my mother to go through unnecesary hardship at port of entry.

your mom does not hae a visa saying indefinite but 10 yrs so it is still valid.
