Entered without inspection

My friend entered the U.S. without inspection 4 years ago. He has now married a U.S. citizen. The wife is expecting twins and cannot work. The petition by the wife for my friend has been approved. Is my friend eligible to adjust status? If so, what is the process? If not, what can we do?

Please help me!

He will have to file a I-601 waiver outside of the USA. USCIS will not approve his AOS because he entered without inspection.
