End of seventh year approaching...in India right now, urgent please

Hi,

Currently I am approaching end of my seventh year H1(ends on May 16th 2007) and got my visa stamped recently and currently working from office location in India. I am returning back on March 24, 2007 and have few questions regarding the status:

1) Do the officer at Port of Entry create any issues as I have less than two months of validity period?

2) After I apply for my H1 extension, does it need to be approved before the end date on the current H1 or is it fine if its pending?

Please let me know.
