Employment Terminated after N-400 Fingerprinting

I just got fingerprinted for my N-400 application a month ago...

However, my employer just gave notice a week ago that they are laying off people and I am one of them...

So, my question is, does my current unemployment affects my citizenship interview/application? Should I even bring it up during the interview????

Since I got laid off, I wanted to take the opportunity to travel out of the country for perhaps up to 1-2 months...is that advisable?? I do intend to look for a job but I think I need a break first....

Thanks....

Employment is not a requirement for naturalization. So no need to worry. But you must update your job information on your N-400 during the interview. So tell the interviewing officer that you have been laid off and your N-400 will be updated accordingly.

Also you can travel while your N-400 is pending but be sure that you do not miss any important USCIS appointments like interview or oath ceremony. Also, you must report international travel to the officer if you have travel that is not already listed on your N-400 form. So again, if you travel between fingerprinting and interview you must inform the interviewing officer about it so that your N-400 form is updated accordingly.

You can also travel after the interview and before your oath. In that case, you must indicate at the back of your oath notice that you have traveled after the interview.

So the key is that all international travel while the N-400 is pending must be reported at the interview (or travel after the interview at the back of the oath notice).
