Hi Guys,

Has anyone actually been asked to show Employment letter to the IO when applying under the 5year LPR category? JohnnCash has it in his list of documents to have with you for the interview. Would my job offer letter plus current pay-stub suffice instead?

JohnnyCash's thread is to help make your case completely ironclad, so he included some documents that are completely optional, such as the cover letter and a letter from employer. In my two years on this forum, I haven't seen a single post where the applicant was asked for a letter from employer. If you have it available and feel like bringing it to the interview just for the hell of it, go ahead. Otherwise, there's no need whatsoever to have bring it.

No problem. For my interview, I collected just about every single item on JohnnyCash's checklist. Of those items, I was only asked for my driver license and GC.

However, it's definitely better to be overprepared than to receive an N-14 and have your interview rescheduled, because the IO wants to see some obscure document.

search for "unemployed", "lay off" in these forum and you will get the answer that you were looking for

key thing for them is to check whether you were working with your GC sponsor at the time of 485 approval
