Do I need an employment letter for the I-485 petition?
My I-140 was based on Alien of Extraordinary, and was already approved.

Many thanks...

my 2 cents' worth!

when u apply for I-485, one of the documents that u have to submit is the employment letter from your current employer. now i dont' know if it is only applicable if u r applying for green card thru ur company. but i needed to send one along with my I-485.
hope this helps!

Believe you need one. Please confirm with your attorney.

Yes, you need one

Yes, you generally need the employment letter even though
your underlying I-140 is EB1-EA, because you have to demonstrate that:
1. You continue to work in the area where your
Extraordinary Ability has been recognized.
2. You will not become a "public charge".

The 2nd point can also be proven by other means, such as
ownership of substantial liquid assets.

I do not think an employment letter is needed for EB1-EA since it is self-petitioned and does not need a job offer. Otherwise what is the advantage of EB1-EA over EB2?

I think you need one...

In INS words (from an RFE):
Submit a recent letter from the prospective employer on their original letterhead (not photocopy) showing that they are offering you the position. If you are a self-petitioner, submit an offer of employment from a prospective employer that indicates the position, salary/wage, and the duties to be performed.

If an EB1-EA lost his current job during 485 process, Will that affect on the 485 petition? Can he waiting for approval without working or an job offer from a prospective employer?
