Employment in India with OCI status

Hi all - I am new to the OCI process as I recently became a US citizen.

While the PIO card benefits clearly state that it can be used for employment in India, I don't see a similar statement for OCI

Does the OCI status really allow for employment in India (Private Sector jobs) ?

From CGISF website, under 'Highlights of the [OCI] Scheme':

8. Benefits to which OCI is not entitled to:

The OCI is not entitled to vote, be a member of Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council or Parliament, cannot hold constitutional posts such as President, Vice President, Judge of the Supreme Court or High Court etc. and he/she cannot normally hold employment in the Government.

Since it specifically says NO to government employment, I am assuming private-sector employment is permitted for OCIs.

Funny! The link above states in the eligibility line

- Foreign-born children of both Indian parents - Eligibility - YES for PIO and NO for OCI !!

My child was born in the US and both parents are of Indian origin. I thought the child is eligible for PIO AND OCI. Am I wrong in my thinking?

"Indian parents" in that phrase should actually read "parents who are still Indian citizens (i.e, holding Indian passports)." So, if both you and your spouse still hold Indian passports, your child is eligible for PIO only, else, the child is eligible for both PIO and OCI.
