EMPLOYER NAME ON VISA DIFFERENT THAN ON THE PETITION

Hi All,

I have a quick question. I am filling up I-539 post layoff on H1-B. There is a question that asks about "employer in the United States since last admitted or granted an extension or change of status?". The issue here is that my stamped visa says " ABC" as the petitioner i.e the parent company while i-797A mentions "PQR" i.e.subsidiary I was working for.

Did anyone came across this situation? Can someone guide me on what should be done in this situation? My H1B grace ends on the 4th March so I need to apply soon.

Thank You

In this situation, you should mention the subsidiary (PQR) mentioned in your I-797A because that's the specific entity you were working for. It's not uncommon for the stamped visa and the I-797A to have different names, especially if you're working for a subsidiary. Just be sure to provide accurate information and explain the relationship between the parent company and the subsidiary if needed. Good luck with your application
