You should be fine. Do not worry about a few days inbetween jobs, I guess you are going to work on your EAD. Once you start using your EAD, there is some grace period before you find yourself another job (I am not sure exactly how long, but at the max 6 months I guess, correct me if I am wrong about this). So 7 days should be fine.

If you're working on EAD, your legal status is "pending 485".

All that is needed is a future offer of employment. You do NOT have to be working when the 485 is pending .... all you need is a job offer once your 485 gets approved.

There is no need for any grace time like 6 months that you mention .... you can chill out forever (till 485 approval, that is !)

you don't even have to get a EAD card if you don't want to work

How did you go about dealing with your old employer to DOL and IRS? What did IRS do the employer?

I might be in similar situaion as your, once I use AC 21( long way to go though) any futher detail is appreciated
