Emergency Travel Document Required?

Hello,
I am currently in H1B visa and it expires only on May 2006. Meanwhile, I have applied for GC (Marriage to USC) and have received Finger printing appointments for Nov 10 and 14 (I765 and I 485). My concern is that I am planning to travel outside of US before Feb 2006. Will I be needing the Emergency travel document? I am not sure about the process after the fingerprinting appointment. Can I just use my valid H1B for travel? If I receive my Conditional GC, will my H1B be still valid? How long doesi t take to get the conditional GC agetr fingerprinting.. I applied in Chicago Lockbox. If I get the EAD but still work with my H1, will it still be considered as I have used EAD. Please help/clarify. Thanks.

If you are on H1B, you dont need AP.

Yes. You can travel on your valid H1B.

H1B automatically gets cancelled when you get your GC

No idea. FBI name check does not follow anyone's timeline

Having EAD and using them are two different things. You can "have" your EAD and still work on H1, thereby keeping EAD as backup incase your H1 gets into trouble. The moment you use your EAD, your H1 is cancelled.
Please help/clarify. Thanks.
