Hi:

I need to get an emergency AP from SFO. Until what time do they accept applications for emergency AP and what documents to I need to take with me.
Could someone please help...

Thanks

You need to carry the
1. I-485 notice
2. Passport
3. Reason proving emergency ( have it in writing on a piece of paper)
4. 2 Photographs
5. I-131 Form

I don't know the time because I was there at 5.30 in the morning when I needed one

U need to carry the most imp document..which is proof of why u are applying for an Emg AP

The trend is that u will get an emgAP only if somone in your immediate family is very sick..else unlce aunts, grandpa , grandma and cousins can wait..that's what the INS thinks..so make sure that u have a valid document that describes why u need to undertake an emergency travel..in my case I got it coz my dad suffered from a relapse of his heart condition and the doc faxed a letter advising me to undertake travel on an immediate basis

Emergency AP

Thanks to those who replied..

Here is my experience at SJC .

got in around 12:15 pm. The guy at the information desk asked me the details. I told him that my brother is very ill and showed him the letter from the doc. He shook his head and said that its not enough. I need letter proving that the name on the letter is my brothers.. After some pleading he gave me the token number. I waited for an hour or so. Went up to the window when called. The chinese guy behind the glass seemed to be hard of hearing. Finally he understood what I wanted and was able to give me the AP when another guy looking over his shoulder told him not to because brother is not immediate family.

I almost swore aloud..

I am gonna try again tomorrow..

I have already applied for my second AP and awaiting approval and BCIS person says it will take 150-180 days to complete the case.

In such case applying for emergency AP when your application is pending do I still have to pay $110 fees, or would it be similar to iEAD.?

Thanks!

It seems to me that nowadays, unless your IMMEDIATE (spouse or kids) family member is already death, the CIS will not issue emergency AP. Sometimes just stating 'dying' or 'very ill' is not enough. I wish they would be more lenient/sympathetic ... but sadly, that's how things are going now.

I hope with the withdrawal of "zero tolerance policy" things will change.

Not exactly. I got emg AP with a letter that detailed my dad's health. It was a relapse of his heart condition and my letter from the doc clealry said so.

The officer went by what was written in the letter and how convincing it was, the letter had a sentence that said i have advised XXX to travel immdly and be of emotional assistace to his father. That worked for me.

I think instead of just having a letter from the doc saying XYZ is sick one should try to get a letter where the doc advises immediate travel...and why the person needs to travel. In my case it was the only son, it can be genuine reasons like sole financial provider, only adult child etc etc...

good luck..

Please help need Emegency AP

Friends,

I talked to the lawyer and explained him my father had heart attach (Relapse) and he needs to undergo major surgery. For that I need to be present to support financialy and moraly as I am the only responsible person and that they are dependent on me. The lawyer says Local office denies/disapproves these request for emergency AP and that there is no way out. I cannot travel until I have recieve my AP renewal.

Please advise.. need to leave for India by next week end. I also have the necessary supporting letter, medical reports and othe documents.

Can somebody post their experience in San Jose office?

I will appreciate very much.!

Hi I got my AP for exactly the same reasons. Take the leeter along with otehr docs, incd 2 photos and convince the guy in the counter..if he says no i can't give u a token ask to speak to a supervisor as U have t go to India. tell him what is the emeg ap for if u can't give one in such circumstances

the momet he hears u wanting to talk to supervisor he will do 2 things

1. give u a token and be done with u and let u in
2. call his supervisor.

be dead serious..don't take NO for an answer..tell him U HAVE TO GO..it's yr dad's life that is in danger.

then go in and repeat the same story to the officer..tell him u have to go come what may..plead beg..cy ..anything to get him to send u upstaris for an interview..repeat same process on top then u will get yr AP..pure and simple

but make sure that u have yr docs letter ..good luck

I am also in the need of emergency AP.

I have applied my AP in AUg, 2003 and till now its saying that it will take 150-180 days to approve, and my AP is expiring in dec, 2003. I have to go to official trip to Europe in JAnuary, 04. I dont knoow whether my AP will approve at that time or not.

So what should one do for getting the emergency AP from CSC, in case of official purpose. Should one has to pay the money again for emergency AP. To whom should one contact for getting the emergency AP:local CSC office/calling to INS/etc.

Please advise me in this difficult situation..

Thanks
