I have a very urgent need for Advanced Parole and plan to apply for it this Friday at Newark NJ BCIS office. I just called the 1-800 BCIS customer service to confirm the local office's hours on Friday and to check if the office takes my application for AP and what supporting documents are needed. The customer representative told me that I need the Doctor's report faxed to me to bring in, along with passport and I-485 receipt. I am not clear if I need to bring two photos or they'll do them for me electronically.

The emergency could not allow me to wait more than a week( unpredictably probably much shorter than a week).

When I made inquiries for our cases' status pending Name Check after interview of April 14, 2003 at Newark, NJ, I noticed one information officer come out to ask those people on line who has Advanced Parole needs to come to her and told them they can only apply for it two weeks before planned date of travelling.

I want to get it on the same day!

I appreciate it if you could post your personal experience and useful information on this issue.

Based on my experience, The documents I gave were,
A long with the application (from internt), check (fee), I485, H1 paper, and a coverig letter why I need to go.

Thank you for your quick response.

But I am not clear whether you walked in and got it on the same day from local office or you applied it by mailing the AP application to one of the Service Centers and then receiving your approved AP travel document in your mail box after weeks or even months of waiting.

yes, I walked and got AP on the same day. The process took 2:30 hours approximately to get the AP. She just asked for my H1, I485, photos, check and letter. In my case the letter spoke almost everything why I am going. wish you luck.

carry Doctors certificate if possible mentioining that your presence is extremely necessary for this kind of situation.

I got it on the same day by walking in. They did not bother to take the Doc's records.

They made two other mistakes again even for this simple application. No wonder they have made many mistakes including two fatal ones causing our cases to turn 8th year next month.

They forgot to return my original I-485 receipt after I was called to the window to take the AP and advice on travel. I went back to the window to ask for it back and they said they could not find it and the best they can do is to give me a copy of the copy they made of my original. I had no other choice but say "fine" because it was about 4:45PM and I saw several employees leaving for home passing by the window inside.

When I was about to leave, I double-checked my suitecase again and, to my astonishment, my passport was missing. I went back again to the window to tell them about it, that stupid officer then went inside to his desk and brought back my passport. They told me earlier that I have to carry the passport with the AP. Without my passport, what is use for the AP? If they had told me they could not find your passport as they did on my original I-485 receipt, imagine what an extreme hardship they would have caused for my current family emergency!
