My Ead was approved in Sept 13 and got the following message in email.

On September 13, 2004, after approving your application, we ordered you a new
card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

Today I got another message:

This case has been approved. On September 15, 2004, an approval notice was
mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may
wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the
National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

Could any one please help in understanding about this 2nd message.

The same thing happened in my case, but for my wife it went from the first to message to saying

"On September 14, 2004, the card order was completed and we mailed the applicant's new card directly to him or her. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this card, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283."

I guess they mailed the cards for both of us.

The first message is that your case is approved and has gone to the next step which is ordering a card for you

The second message is that your case has passed the next step which means that the card was made and has been mailed to you
 
I received email for both of us at the same time, until that point both the statuses were the same, saying after approving your case on so and so date we ordered a new card.

from that message my status changed to saying this case been approved etc etc, for my wife it changed directly to saying the new card order was complete and mailed out etc etc
