Hello,
I am a PR for over 5 years and eligible to apply for citizenship. I have been in my current address also for over 90 days.
However I need to go outside US and be back ( 2 week trip). Can I apply soon after my return or is there again a 90 day wait period upon my return? I will be returning to the same address I am in now.

Also, I would like to know if I have to send 3 yrs tax returns or should I absolutely have to have 5 yrs tax returns documents sent along with application? IRS is going to take 10 days to send my details. If I wait then my travel plans will have to be altered. If I apply now, I could get biometrics done (possibly) in 3 weeks and I could still travel out. However if IRS takes that 10 days time, I am stuck.

Therefore need some clarity and understanding around these topics. Please advise.
Thanks.

Yes you can apply soon after your return, or you can even apply now if you know you will be back within two weeks and will not miss your fingerprinting appointment.

You do not have to wait for IRS because you do not have to submit the tax returns and other evidence, you are asked to carry them to the interview. What you have to submit is the REQUIRED EVIDENCE, listed on Page 10 of the instructions.

Please read the N400 instructions booklet. It is very simple and for your own good.
