Eligible to apply - but want to travel

Hi Guys,
Can I please get some advice from you? I have maintained permanent residency in America for 6+ years now. I'm single and I have no issues with regards to my naturalization application. I also own my own apartment here. A little bit about my profession - worked as an i-banker in NY for 10+ years.

I've been thinking about taking a break for a bit (just tired... and want to spend time 4 to 5 months travelling the world to reset from the work hours). After that, I was thinking about coming back and starting up a business of my own in NY. I'm a bit concerned about applying for citizenship because of my upcoming travel plans etc.

Can I travel around every month and return to the US for a week or two and then take off again or will i have issues?

thanks in advance for your help.

The best thing to do is to get the citizenship and then take that long vacation.

Legally, he has a choice. What you are saying is "the best thing" is a matter of personal preference but has nothing to do with what is legally best to do.

Well thats certainly not true. A single trip of less than 6 months duration is not going to affect the OPs eligibility for naturalization. Anything longer than that would be bad, as it carries with it the presumption of a break in continuous residence.

OP: go have some fun and recharge your batteries. Get the natz thing sorted out when you come back. Just don't be away more than 5 months or so, and definitely don't get involved in overseas employment....
