Eligibility for Citizenship.

Hi,

I am a GC holder since 02/03 married to a GC holder for 10 years and my wife just became a citizen. Do I qualify for citizenship under the 3 year law or only when I complete 5 years or should my wife need to be a citizen for 3 years for me to apply through her?

I think your wife has to be a citizen for three years for you to apply through her.

You should be eligble right now. There is no limit on how long she has had her citizenship, so I would get an infopass appointment and double check....but as I read the rules of the website you can do it now!

FYI, from Naturalization Guide, page 18, second category:

"If you:
Are currently married to and living with a U.S. citizen
AND
Have been married to and living with that same U.S.
citizen for the past 3 years
AND
Your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the past 3 years"
