Electronic filing / other questions

Fellow forumees,

I had a few questions as I complete my N400 and AR11 forms.

- does anyone have any input on the pros and cons of online appilcation vs. paper filing? I was thinking of applying online as it seems like a more streamlined / possibly faster way of applying.
- I recently got divorced; I plan to explain this in question 3G and in section 8. Is it necessary to attach the court order of marriage annulment (the final divorce paper from court)? Any other tips on this topic?
- Affiliations: is it necessary to list associations with professional societies?

I had heard of this forum during my GC processing, but never actually used it; the FAQ's and discussion boards are a huge help.

Thanks,

I've used online AR-11 form for change of address and confirmed that USCIS registered the change in my case by calling then about 30 days later.

As for divorce papers..you can attach copies to application and bring originals to interview.

I am not even sure if the divorce papers have to be sent along with the N400. Are you certain the rules mention this? I thought the rule was to bring that paperwork to the interview.

Reg Affl, some people do list all including costco/Sams club! Others don't list any clubs like Rotary, Ieee etc. So it is your call. I guess the intent is for them to catch war criminals and members of such trouble making political parties.

The complete document checklist (including divorce decrees) is on page 48 of the M-478 instructions.

Since you will be asked for originals at interview, that's why I said you can send in copies.

whatever you send, send copies only. keep originals to bring with you at the interview
as for listing stuff, i listed everything, even mom groups online. better safe than sorry

Thanks for the suggestions. Any input on the electronic filing of N400? Has anybody done this? Any pros and cons?

Thanks again.

There is no input because as far as I know one cannot file N-400 electronically ;) You can fill the pdf in your computer, and save it, and print it if that's what you mean. However at the end of this you need to print the application and send it in an envelope. I think it is cleaner to fill the pdf in the computer and then print it out.
