Hi,

I filed my EAD (renewal) electronically on 5/28 (the first day of the new system), did the photos and FP on 5/29 (the first for that ASC), The case was approved today (32 days), about 1/2 the time reported my people who filed with paper.

Personal visit..., is this the reason...

Paulclarke1,
Other than a personal visit to application processing center there is no difference in between paper and electronic. Since BCIS has verified your presence by your visit...,
Do you think that this may be the reason for faster process...

May BCIS wants to see the person face-to-face at the time of approval..., local transfers and interview are also increasing in number...

recaping e-EAD approval steps

Paul,
I am nearing to file 3rd EAD (considering time it is taking for most of the EADs/and APs these days).
What I have gathered from this thread is,

If it is a renewal, my questions are itemized as following:

1. Fill out online form and submit electronically
2. get a record (case) number i.d. or something for your record?

3. when do you go to the local support center? after you get
receipt notice or they will send something in that order?

4. Take your photograph and index finger FP(for EAD) in that document support center? any documents that need to be taken and shown to them at that time?

5. And basically wait?

6. If it is a renewal then don't even need to send/show at the center the documents, is that right?

It may have explained on the online link, but pardon me for going down to too generic format may be asking some dumb questions.

Thanks, your posting will help,

Can't speak to your case, in mine however.

Filed online the first day they offered the new system . Did not elect to send any supporting documents (don't recall being asked either.

Printed out receipt.

Called BCIS number and booked appointment at ASC (for next day).

Took printout to ASC, it was the 2nd day of the system so they were confused by the whole thing and sent me away for a couple of hours or them to get up to speed. Once they worked oit out they were fine.

The case took a few days to be shown online

Received Receipt Notice in the mail a couple of days later (not related to ASC photo and FP).

33 days after filing web site says new card ordered.

BCIS not ready for efiling

BCIS could not locate my bank account due to their unupdated banking system. They initially blamed it on me saying that I entered the wrong routing number. I paid by credit card with a penalty of $30 and sent an appeal to department of debt management to initiate an audit of the transaction.

The audit along with vouching from my bank established that it was a BCIS system error. They are returning the penalty payment but my receipt date was moved out from July 3 to July 24.

I have made several calls and they have said the processing only started on July 24. The department of debt management is very co-operative but they were unable to get my priority date restored. So e-filers beware........... BCIS is very new and they are still using Windows 3.1 as their operating system!!
