Hi,
I filed my EAD(NSC) online around 15th of july but not yet approved. FP done by 22nd July. Do we need to send additional documention like I-485 reciepts ?
Is it legal to work without EAD ?
Mine expires on Oct 8th and the 90th day is around 15th. Is there a particular day on which local centers issue interim EAD ?

Thanks,
Viz

If you chose that you will be sending additional docs- you have to send it.
For renewal the previous EAD copy or mailer will definitely be in the additional doc required list.
Without EAD you cannot continue to get paid. Take your name off the payrolll.
Each sub or district office have their own schedule. Find out in advance by either visiting them or

Can You Work while EAD was pending?

Yes You can Work, According to the local INS office in Indianapolis.

One of my friend was in the same situation. He visited the local INS office.
He explained the situation to them and asked whether he can work or not.
Local INS said to him that he can work, because he applied for an extension and he has a receipt notice as proof of extension.

can u lycos_999 & Jaxen pl. clarify?

hi!,

I am trying to see how this message can be used in my case.

I am using EAD/AC21 to work right now, my EAD expires on Dec 3, I applied electrnically on sept 15th..less than 90 days...

So can I work between 3rd dec and 15th Dec, assuming I go and get Interim EAD on 15th.

Pl. share some info.

Hi Rama,

My Friend is in the same situation as of you. His EAD expired, he applied for a new EAD before the expiration of the first one.

He got the same doubt whether he can work or not.

He went to the local INS office and asked them whether he can work or not. They said to him that he can work.

To make sure once again, you may go to your local INS office and ask them whether you can work or not. Or you can ask your attorney if he knows all the rules & regulations regarding the immigration policy.

what about ssn

Here is the situation.
- Say you had and EAD and never used it and did not work ( spouse working) and to top it the first EAD you did not get your SSN. Now you have applied for the renewal and the 1st EAD has expired.. You now have the potential of getting a job.. what happens in this situation...?
- How will you get a SSN when your first EAD is gone and the renewal is in progress..?
- Is it possible to even work with the renewal date..?

I was of the opinion that you need to have the EAD card and SSN.. However, once you apply for SSN you can start working before you get the SSN card... but EAD is a must...

Any inputs..

Yes u can work

I spoke with my attorney. Yes you can work while EAD is pending provided you have applied before it expired.

Thanks lycos_999 /vizkid

Noooo
you cannot work without an approved EAD. ask local office or attorney to give recent legislation which says one can work with pending EAD.

People in NYC wait 12 hours outside and 10 hours inside to get an interim EAD. If only an extension receipt will work! Maybe it varies from state to state?

Jaxen, I assume u were addressing me

Thanks...I need to talk to some lawyer or visit local BCIS office in San Jose
