Effects of having B1 visa on applying for F1 visa

Hi All,

I have a B1 visa valid for 10 years and am currently in US for the second time. I am getting back to India in a few days. I plan to apply for MS in Fall 2011. I might have to come back to US again in a few months.

My question is, would my frequent visits to US on B1 affect when I apply for my F1 visa? Like, is there any condition that I should have not visited US for a year or any fixed period?

And, would my B1 visa get cancelled if I get my F1 visa? If yes, is there any solution to avoid that?

According to the IL attorney, "No, the visa is still valid. If the B-2 visa is not cancelled, then it remains valid as a matter of discretion. Whether you can use it in the future depends upon the situation."
