Effect of visa dates on I-485 processing

I want to know the way I-485 applications are processed.

My priority date is May 2006, EB3, India. And I filed my I485 in July 2007. Now I see that the visa dates are retrogressed. Should I be concerned about the visa date now as my I-485 application is already filed?

Should the visa dates be current (for my priority date) at the time of adjusting/approval of the I-485 application?

Should I keep checking the Visa Bulletin???

Worst case EB3, India given Apr 2001 as the date processing: You are in for a long haul -~ 5 years if not longer

Best case: EB3 India might move to 2003 IF State department gets the numbers based on potential cases filed by USCIS; after USCIS has done analysis on the recent filings. It would still be at least 3 years or more for you.

If you get stuck in name check, like a very number small people , add more time to these cases.

Bottom line: Fugheddbaoutit. Its not a short wait.
