Hi,

I am a H1B holder married to a LPR. I have my AOS interview scheduled in Newark for 15th Aug, 2006. My EAD is already approved for 1 year. I am in the process of getting all my documents organized and getting prints of my photographs.

Couple of questions really really worrying me:
1. Will the Aug retrogression affect me in anyway i.e. would I NOT get my Green Card for many months ??? What does retrogression mean for me.

2. Usually, how long does it take for the actual Green Card to come after the interview? I have to travel end of year from work, and want to know whether I should be applying for advance parole or not.

All these years of wait, anxiety and frustration have been easier to bear with the help of this forum. I would like to thank you all for the all the help and guidance. When I am soooo near, don't want to say anything to jinx it.

Please help out. Hopefully 1 last time :o

well, you are a hb1, so i think you can travel. i think hb1 people can travel and come back.

as for retro, it might affect you. depending on the details, you perhaps can't apply untily ou become current. but you say you were approved, so there is a chance you might get because of that. or the application will be on hold until it becomes current.

better question is if you were about to send i-485's and things like that. i put in days before my date retro. not sure if it was going to make a difference, but i sent in all the info. i do know that had my i-130 been approved yesterday, i would be 4 years back.

Well, I have already applied for my I-485 and hence the interview this 15th. I applied for my EAD and got that last month. My EAD is valid for 1 year. So don't need my H1 anymore (expiring in 5 months )

So after the interview, after reterogression, I won't be getting a the plastic GC anytime soon?

Til your PD becomes current, decision on your I485 is put on hold and plastic card won't come until I485 gets approved.
