What options are available once you get laid off to stay in the U.S.?

For example can you change status to F-1 AFTER the date of the layoff if your employer has just filed an I-140?

Any other options?

How long can you stay in the country after lay off?

Do you know if there is any discussion of being laid off when you are on an O-1 visa?

Also, it appears that you need to apply for the change of status from H/O visa to For B visas BEFORE you are laid off! What happens if you are laid off before you can file a COS?
