a friend has his green card interview next week. he was unfortunately arrested for domestic violence about a year ago and the whole thing was later resolved. will this be a bar to his getting permanent residence?

Please give more details on resolve. If he was not convicted

of the crime then he is ok. However he must reply truthfully to the IIO and have a copy of the courts disposition saying that the case was dismissed or dropped.

pls carry all documentation

pls carry all documentation about the arrest. do not lie (they can find anyway) and pls have attorney with him.

Hi "friend", How did the interview go?? Hope your "friend" got approved.

Please reply to all the folks who gave advice to you on this board.

If it was domestic stuff, INS doesn\'t care....If it was criminal...you are screwed.....

Because she/he is shy, just like one of my friends.....

One of my friends got several highway tickets for his overspeeding. He drave above 80 miles/hour, but the speed limit is 70 miles/hour. He got three tickets from highway policemen. Do the highway tickets affect his i-140, i-485, and green card?

Yes , driving at 80 m/hr is a crime. He will have to go to jail.

Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Traffic related tickets are OK. He will get his GC if that is his only offence.

Actually, the net is the best forum for shy folks...

Who would know who you are? How difficult is it for a person to type "I have a problem"? Is it more difficult than for their friend to type "My friend has a problem"? As long as they don\'t have to appear in public and discuss their problem, what\'s shyness got to do with it. I don\'t buy it.

Dee_Rod - are you inplying that Sam_485 actually got involved in domestic violence and not his &quot

I thought so too when I read Sam_485\'s msg !! Just did not want to sound too rude :)

485 mistype

Hello all, Thanks in advance for your help.

My attorney typed my date of birth wrong on the I-485 page 1, but it correct in all other places. What needs to be done in this case ? Does the whole petition gets invalid ? or Can we file correction item ??

Thanks again.

Please share details

Hello Sam,

I am sort of in the same boat and am expecting an RFE/interview. It would be nice if you could share some more details on things like category, center, PD, RD, ND, FP, date of interview notice receipt and the date of actual interview etc.

Also, what went on prior to and during the interview. Did your friend take an attorney? If so, what was the point or the clause (212(ii)) which help your friend win the approval ? Was your friend\'s spouse\'s interview conducted the same date and time or did it go the nornal route for him/her?

Please share as many details as possible because I see a lot of people on this chatboard who can benefit from your friend\'s experience.

Thanks a lot.
