Can somebody help me to find an example of Economic Hardship Letter for F-1 student trying to get first EAD? It is very important. Thank you guys. I can send you my email or PM me.

Not really Gilbert, but it is for my wife (she is here on F-1 visa) and as you see, it has a lot to do with my asylum. Hope you understand. If anybody can help, please let me know, or just ignore this thread. Thanks guys.
 
You'll have better luck of getting replys to your question if you post it under a more appropriate forum. Most asylees are not familiar with this. TRy posting your question under Student visas or something.

I agree. There is a a thread dedicated to student visas and you can get more help there.

Also, do you mind telling us if you and your wife are from the same country?
 
nofreedom, I am in the same boat, once i get my GC, i need to figure out how to file for my wife. she is on J1 now.

Gilbert, she happens to be from the same country ...
 
I will try there guys. Thanks. I have to get her a EAD, because the school she goes to is getting really expensive, and they even called me once to say that if I do not pay, my wife will have to leave the country. That has nothing to do with the school but they still playing stupid ... anyway, just have to be patient until our GC, and even then will be long process for her.:mad:

Have you thought about her applying for asylum? It is of course not 100%, but Asylum Officers have been quite sympathetic to such cases.

At least think about it.

We disscussed it, but it is very hard to get asylum if you are from my country. And, is it worth it for her to go through the same thing we went through?:confused:
 
Gilbert, it took me a while to actually get her here on any visa, just to be together. Remeber, a year and half ago we talked about my case. This was the only way. I just don't want to screw it up now. I have to play safe. I'm kind of person that if she has to go, I would go to. Family is my priority and having my family split up is not an option. I will fight with all legal ways, but on the end, we would probably ended up asking asylum in some other country (worst case scenario Canada) :D
 
you right, i forgot, internation students is expensive everywhere. my wife is J1, she was able to pull a RA , thus she is getting in state tuition.

Sorry for my ignorance, what is J1 visa?
 
man, never ever get J1,
my wife has to go to home country for 2 years before I can file for her paper. hopefully she can find a postdoc postion for 3 years , by then I will have hopefully 2 years for citizenship.

If I may ask ,Why not appying for derivative status for your wife?I am also asylee and family man too.I have applied for my family and its taking time.Any advice on a visa one can use
