EB2 India | Tracker for I-485 Approvals despite being Retrogressed

Hi everybody,

This thread is only for people who have gotten an I-485/AOS Approval email on or after 12/01/2007 (Dec 1st, 2007) and who are under EB2 India category. As we all know, this category retrogressed starting Dec 1st. I understand that USCIS does not give an APPROVAL unless the priority date is also current but we are still seeing cases being approved.

I would like people to post their details/signature based on the above criterion. It would give the folks who are still waiting, some insight into whether or not the USCIS follows its own rules. I guess I am rooting for USCIS to "break its own rule" in this case so that some of us could get lucky sooner. Also, it would be something interesting to track/trend.

For those who meet the above criterion but have announced their approval message(s) on other threads, I request you post the announcement in this thread as well.

Thanks,
Uday

I am breaking the rule you set (only for people who got approved on or after Dec 1st). Sorry for that.

But here is my take:
Just because someone got an approval notice in December does not mean that they were actually approved in December.
As I understand, an approvable application can have upto 4 months of shelf life. So, at worst, someone whose application was reviewed and deemed approvable in August, could get their notice in December. The 4 months are for USCIS officers to do some paper work required on their side before closing with an approval/welcome/card production ordered notices.

Does it happen often? We do not know the average time it takes from approvable review to actual approval.

chitti007 you are wrong, because nothing is predictable or there is no defined process. so look out that's it.

chitti007,

I am not necessarily in agreement with "your take". I have been following this forum for sometime and I know that people do try to correlate/compare their data with others and draw conclusions/predictions. Their conclusions/predictions at times are reasonable and other times not. In any case, I still believe that people on this forum would benefit if we were to post/track the kind of info I am requesting.

I'd rather not have this thread turn into an exchange on the "why". Anybody who believes benefit can be derived by posting/reading just data should feel free to do so.

I agree with nidday.

Irrespective of the details why/how a case's approved in Dec 07, let us track all EB2-India cases that are (going to be) approved during this month. We will try to understand whether USCIS restricts and refrains from approving such retrogressed cases OR follows its usual absurd and abnormal approval pattern. Just for the sake of argument!!

Any retrogressed EB2-India filers, please post your details in this thread when you get an approval.

Comparing one's own dates to an approved petition's dates makes sense. But comparing an approval in a particular month to the visa bulletin for that month does not. That is all I am saying.

Sharing the approvals at any time is definitely good for everybody.

I don't understand - are you hoping you will get youar GC even though visa number is not available? It's not happening! Those who got approved took all the visas. You are left with none, that's why the dates retrogressed.

While I am no one to stop anyone from opening new threads, I totally agree on chitti007 first post on this thread. Getting an "approval" in a retrogressed month by no means relates to a visa issuance in that month.
