it is actually a trade off.. the only peple who will really benefit the most from this would people who have ND around October/Dec 99 - early 2000 and whose PD just became current.

Hi Bhanu !

Could you explain this to me how this would benefit people having ND Oct99/Dec99. My RD is Sep 99 and ND is Oct 99 and I am quite eager to know this.

Thanks in advance.

BecauseINS is processing october cases, they will get approval faster. Older cases from sept 99 and before will take some time because the have to be "found out" and processed/approved.

True and in addition, since IIO primarily look at ND which filed by the month, the applications which have ND Oct-Nov99 through early 2000 will be always looked at each month until the PD becomes current and if it does, then they get approved along with the long standing cases..

I never understood the importance of PD movement except the fact that EB2 and EB3 filers have to wait that date to file their I-485. Why should PD movement affect the people who already filed their I-485? Anybody please explain it to me. Thanks a lot.

You know that every year only so many immigrant visas can be issued..PD being current means that visas are available for
those people who have their PD current.. now, in a ideal situation, as soon as your PD is current, you "APPLY" for AOS and
it gets immediately approved.. but what we have is not ideal situation.. bcos of the processing back logs, even tho you already
applied for AOS, if PD retros, there are no visa numbers to allocate. so there cant be an "APPROVAL" of your AOS application.
Remeber applying for AOS is not the same as the approval of it.
Hope I was clear..

metoo: Thank you very much. If I understand you correctly, the problem is mainly due to PD retros. However, there has not been a PD retro for a while and the last time we had a PD retro was around March\'00. Does this mean the new PD movement will not affect people who filed their I-485 after March\'00 as long as the new PD movement is not a retro? Or never mind, I do not think I will get this straight.
