Hey I'm a cardiology fellow on J1 about to finish my training. I'm looking for waiver jobs right now. I've built a strong case for EB-1A and my lawyer is optimistic, so I'm planning to apply for that as well.
I understand I can file I-140 before getting waiver approval but I can't file I-485 until I get a waiver job. I was wondering what would happen if the I-485 approves DURING my waiver job. Would that change my status to a Permanent Resident at that moment (even though I haven't finished 3 years of the waiver job?) Thanks!
