EB I-485 pilot project to start

California service center is about to start the pilot program to process EB2 based CONCURRENT filed I-485 petitions in 90 days. No other category is eligible at this time. No information on other service centers or other categories or people who have pending petitions for the last 2 yrs.

CSC Director Don Neufeld announced at a March 31, 2004 AILA liaison meeting that the USCIS will be embarking on a new pilot program to experiment with different approaches to processing.

Starting shortly, CSC will attempt to adjuducate all new concurrently filed EB-2, non- National Interest Waiver, I-140s and I-485s on a truly concurrent basis. Instead of a prima facie review, the I-140 will be adjudicated within 90 days, together with the I-485, provided fingerprints and name checks are cleared in time. The CSC also will be targeting previously-filed, non-NIW EB-2s, in order to bring their processing times down to match the pilot program processing. Additionally, the CSC will concurrently adjudicate pending adjustment/I-140 applications in all categories, in order to bring processing times to below one year; however, AILA was told to expect little movement on lone-filed I-140s during this push. This pilot project will be at only the CSC at this time. It is expected that HQ will release more details on this project shortly. "

It seems this year will be good for EB-485 filers. Wishing for the best to all the applicants.

It is a great news for some new files, but doesn't help the cases in last two years. I think it is a test and other centers will use this way after one year. As for the old files, who knows?
 
New cases ... okay ...
what abt the present backlogs ???

Won't we get any sort of compensation for this extended torture .... like start the citizenship time count from ND ?

If 90 days is possible for new cases ... can't we withdraw our old I 485 [ which might still take more than 6 months to get adjudicated ] and apply a brand new I 485 and get the GC in 90 days ... Howz that ?
 
Try to look at the second side of the coin.

CA / Los Angeles is surrounded by small/big aerospace industries that employee only GC and citizens.

May be there are a group of EB2 guys waiting to apply for concurrent filing..., highly influencial, very much needed by the defence or aerospace or .... department in US. Unless given GC they may not be elligible to work in such departments.

Such suddenly developed pilot projects will be scrapped as soon as the selected few guys get their GC. OR anyother reason regarding security etc...

I am really fedup of this wait....
 
could it be possibly real?

Even I would rather think this news is true, I barely believe it could survive beyond election year.

Most of my feeling out of the news is that it could be another trick, just like what George W Bush did four years ago by promising that all the immigration cases will be dealt within half year. But look at now, most of us are waiting for about two years to get I485 to be approved. I would call this news 'election year phenomenon'.

Second, who would think that USCIS has that kind resources to perform this way? If they do have, where are they hiding now? There is really no sign they could get all the resources needed.
 
They always had resources

This is all directly or indirectly controlled by the politicians. Every now and then these guys open the floogates a little to secure some future votes. It does not take a lot of manpower or intelligence to make a decision on an application. It's no rocket science. In fact they can assemble a Mars rover quicker than these guys can adjudicate an I485 application :D

Well, if this is a sincere effort - I am really glad for future EB applicants. At least they won't have to go though all the pain we have been through.
