I have a Good News to share. My I-140 got approved on 4/17. Got 2 emails from CRIS today (4/18). Hope it is not a computer glitch. Even checked on USCIS site, it mentions that I-140 has been approved and approval notice has been mailed on 4/17. Now waiting for the actual approval notice to come. Can Gurus please comment if I am approved or it is a computer glitch?

Please see my signature for timeline. It was pretty quick, PP request received on 4/13 and Approval mailed on 4/17..I hope it is not a computer glitch. I cant complain if it is sure shot!!:D

Couple more questions:

1. My wife is on F-1 and child is on F-2. I mentioned about them on the I-140 form. Will they get GC with me at the same time too? I am worried since I read here in one of the threads that one member (sorry forgot the user name) had EB-1EA approved, but filed EB-1EA for spouse too.

2. Will I also get a copy of the approval notice or only my attorney will get it?

3. What are the next steps and timeline for them? I searched but was not successful, I am sure someone must have mentioned the steps.

4. How much time we are looking at before I get the actual GC?

Thanks to everyone for help and Good Wishes. Wishing Good Luck to everyone.

Congrats...CRIS email never ain't no glitch!

1) Your wife and child will also get the GC. Will have to file a separate 485 for each one (yourself being the primary beneficiary and others being derivatives).

I would suggest filing 485, AP and EAD for your wife as soon as possible...because F1 is not a "immigrant intent" visa...and could be a possible source of trouble; i.e if she travels abroad.

3) File 485. Got Birth Certificate?:)

4) Don't know! Me too waiting..see trackitt.com

Thanks Pradeep for the responses. One more question:

Is it necessary to have the birth certificate? Wouldn't passport suffice as for visa, passport showing date of birth is ok? Or how about the Matric certificate?

Birth certificate is needed. If you do not have a birth certificate, you will need an affidavit by your parents preferably or someone reliable who has known you since birth, for eg an elderly relative. The affidavit needs to clearly state your dob, your parents(both) names, your place of birth. Its a fairly standard procedure and any good lawyer in India can handle it. Check the forum for a standard format to the affidavit. Getting it is fairly easy from what I have seen of others experiences, dont worry. However, if you submit your 485 application without a birth cert. or affivadit, you will face a likely RFE. Good Luck and congratulations on your approval

Thanks for the response, Chatterjee1. I have asked my parents to look for the birth certificate in their documents. Lets see. Does anyone know of they accept birth certificate from Indian Consulate/Embassy?

Do you have a link to the wording for the affidavit? I searched the forums but could not find it.

Thanks once again and good luck to everyone.

Hi Ludhianvi
I sent you a PM on the format of the affidavit I had saved with me. I remember my lawyer mentioning that birth certs frm consulates are no good and always bring back a RFE. So its better you get an affivadit done now rather than later, its very easy. I had to get an affivadit because my mother's name was missing from my birth cert., it was not a big deal at all.

Thanks Chatterjee1 for the format. That looks good, hopefully, it will be sufficient.

Could you please send me the affidavit format. It seems chatterjee is not checking this forrum right now. I've received RFE for my birth certificate because the registration date was recent one. I need to send this asap.
Is there anything else you think is needed to be sent along with the affidavit letter.

I would really appreciate your help.
