Hello Everyone!!
My EB1A and NIW both were approved.
Though a passive member i did get a lot of vicarious encouragement seeing approvals here and appreciate all the info that people have put in here. My details when I filed are as below:
1.Assistant Professor with specialty in Internal Medicine at a mid rung university
2.Had 10 publications--6 first author with 60 citations and few trade journal coverages.
3.Reviewed for 1 journal and a few grant applications.
4.15 conference presentations.
5.Elected member of a prestigious national honor society.
6.Sent 7 letters from prominent universities in the US and Canada.
7.Filed thru a prominent attorney though I did most of the work!!!

RD August 1st 2008--EB1A(concurrent)--approval --April 13th;GC received April 20th 2009!!!!

What forum gurus think about my case?

1. PhD from Europe 2006 (not from the top one, blah-blah State University).
2. Currently a postdoc at US University. Pharmacy/Medicine.
3. a) 45 papers in peer-review journals.
b) 11 first authored/Co first authored
c) 30 abstracts in national/international meetings.
4. 120+ citations.
5. Memberships in different societies requires PhD degrees and atleast two nominations
6. Two best poster awards in Conferences....
7. Reviewer for 8 Journals and reviewed 10 papers.
8. Three invitations to submit my research articles

Good point IT Guy! Yes, if you are near a border, why not enjoy the freedom of being able to leave the country on vacation? That is not something you can do whilst waiting for approval (advance parole does not usually cover vacations)
