Early TN renewal at border

Does anyone have experience with TN renewal at the border? Same job and responsibilities.

Caveat: Applying 8 months prior to current TN expiry. Travelling to Canada for Holidays and would like to get done with the TN renewal.

I cant find much online about early TN renewals at POE. Any help is appreciated.
 
The POEs will only process 'like" renewals a few weeks before expiry. Too early, but no harm in trying.

you can file I-129 six months before expiry.
 
Your employer ALWAYS has to give you a new letter, whether its 6 months or 6 hours before you go to the border. So what?

It is from experience gathered here. Since you can't renew a TN by mail unless it is less than six months from expiry, you can assume there is a limit on when you can renew at the border, Experience here says no more than 4-5 weeks. Certainly not 8 months.

If you are going away for the holidays, enjoy. And try to get a renewal, who knows, but just don't count on it.
