that's right... you really don't need..

employer can ask you a combination of docs for you to work... all you need is a drivers license and social security card (without the stamp with restriction or the phrase "not valid for employment). Keep your money
 
thanks guys. it is not for me. my brother in law just arrived in the us on a K3 (non-immigrant visa as a spouse of a usc) and he can't apply for a social security number until he gets an ead from cis. although the uscis says that they have an immediate right to work.
