EAD was sent back to VSC

My EAD was approved, but because of the mistake of the postoffice, the EAD card was returned to VSC. I called the VSC, they said they will mail it back to me, but it will take about one month that I receive the card. Currently I am waiting for the EAD to start working in a company, is there anything I can do before I actually receive the card? Since my EAD is approved, can I just start working at anytime? Will infopass be useful in this situation? Thanks for your help.
 
I went thru similar situation in 2005. From the day I called VSC it took only 3 days for me to receive my EAD.

I called VSC and they said not to work unless I have my physical EAD card eventhough I had the approval notice.
